SolX Interns Ready to Roar in Real-World Marketing

In school, marketing programs often seem like the easier route, especially when compared to the technical grind faced by students in Engineering, IT, or Accounting. After all, marketing majors don't have to cram for boards or licensure exams—a luxury many happily choose to avoid, like a free pass in the academic race.

But in the professional world, that illusion fades quickly. Marketers must be chameleons—quick to adapt, eager to learn, and ready to dive into industries far beyond their textbooks. At SolX Technologies, this meant navigating not just one, but two demanding fields: Energy and IT. This was the challenge that interns Jasmin Kaye Maoirat and James David Cabilla embraced, transforming complex systems into stories and strategies into impactful campaigns.

Both are graduating Marketing Management students from the University of Santo Tomas and consistent Dean's Listers, bringing a strong academic foundation into their internship. Over five months, Jasmin and James embarked on a hands-on marketing experience at SolX Technologies, sharpening their skills in a fast-paced energy tech environment.

They began by mastering professional etiquette and immersing themselves in SolX's brand and the energy industry. The biggest shift came when they transitioned from Business-to-Consumer (B2C) textbook strategies to Business-to-Business (B2B) marketing, adapting to a more polished, data-driven approach.

Jasmin, leveraging her project management and event coordination skills, aligned marketing with sales, overseeing logistics, vendor coordination, and supporting business development. She shared:

"Since freshman year, most of our marketing lessons focused on Business-to-Consumer (B2C) strategies, so shifting to Business-to-Business (B2B) at SolX was a big adjustment. What made it truly meaningful was how the team recognized my strengths in project management and sales support. They trusted me to lead events, manage suppliers, and introduce me to project management tools. This allowed me to contribute where I excelled, while still gaining valuable insights across all areas of marketing."

Meanwhile, James excelled in brand marketing, taking on content development, trend research, blog writing, and calendar management to effectively communicate complex energy topics. He shared:

"Developing content for the energy industry was a steep learning curve, even with our manager's guidance. What helped me grow was the structured approach to content planning. Our manager taught me how to adapt my writing style for different formats—press releases, blogs, and feature articles—which greatly sharpened my brand communication skills. Learning to write, transcribe speeches, interview personalities, and identify key points and pain points to create strong hooks was especially valuable."

As their responsibilities grew, Jasmin led high-impact events, including the solar project turnover ceremonies for Xavier School San Juan and Nuvali, PhilEnergy 2025, and the Strategic Energy Management Masterclass in partnership with the Asian Institute of Management (AIM). James ensured these initiatives were backed by compelling digital content.

Their internship also offered hands-on creative immersion in managing photoshoots, coordinating video documentation, and learning to operate drones—sparking their growth in visual storytelling. Jasmin and James reflected:

"During our internship, we had the chance to visit the Davies Paints plant for a one-on-one interview with a client, which was part of our video campaign and social media content push. We also co-managed a project turnover event for our client, Xavier School in Nuvali. In Laguna, we received hands-on training in photography, videography, and drone operation—experiences that most OJT students don’t typically get. Assisting with events and seeing how networking and relationship-building work at the SMX Convention Center was truly eye-opening. Lastly, covering SolX’s first masterclass in partnership with the Asian Institute of Management and meeting influential people, media personalities, and industry leaders was an unforgettable experience. These experiences set this internship apart, and we’re incredibly grateful to our manager for providing us with such invaluable exposure."

By the end of their internship, Jasmin and James had not only developed technical marketing skills but also gained the confidence to lead campaigns and think strategically. Their success is a testament to the fact that at SolX Technologies, openness to learning and passion for growth go a long way. Their journey proves that our internship program is not just about gaining experience, but about developing the skills and confidence to succeed in the industry.

Claudio Espiol, Marketing Manager at SolX Technologies, shared:

"Jasmin and James showed incredible potential from the start. I wanted to ensure they gained real, practical knowledge across the full marketing spectrum—from content writing and graphic design to media buying, project management, events, sales support, and more. They were also exposed to PR, media relations, and basic production work. And let’s face it—it’s 2025. We shouldn’t be asking interns to just buy coffee and do the bare minimum. At SolX, we equip them with real, hands-on skills that prepare them for success in the industry. Jasmin and James not only met those expectations but consistently exceeded them, improving week by week. I’m genuinely grateful to have mentored such dedicated and driven interns."

We extend our gratitude to the University of Santo Tomas for entrusting us with your outstanding students. At SolX Technologies, we aim to develop future professionals who tackle hands-on challenges and gain the skills they need to succeed in the growing energy industry.
