When you're out with friends, you share a meal and split the bill — it's easier on the wallet. RAP works the same way.
For many small and mid-sized businesses in the Philippines, electricity feels like a fixed cost, one that keeps rising. Big corporations get to negotiate lower rates and better contracts. Smaller players? Not so much. You're often left with a standard bill, a single supplier, and little to no choice.
But that's starting to change.
The Retail Aggregation Program, or RAP, opens the door for smaller electricity users to team up, pool their power demand, and finally enjoy the benefits that were once exclusive to larger consumers. It's a shift toward fairness and flexibility in how we power our businesses. RAP enables two or more end-users in the same area — whether in a business complex, building, or even neighboring stores — to combine their energy use. Once their total consumption reaches 500 kilowatts, the group qualifies for the Competitive Retail Electricity Market (CREM), where businesses can choose their electricity supplier, negotiate contracts, and enjoy competitive pricing.
What used to be out of reach is now within grasp, even for mid-rise buildings, office complexes, or tenant groups within a business district. Combined, these accounts become a single, more powerful buyer.
The process is straightforward but requires coordination. Connect with us at [email protected] or visit solx.ph to book a meeting with our energy managers. We'll help you explore pairing options with our pool of eligible customers.
You don't need to look for a friend to split the bill — SolX will do that for you.
If you've switched before — for example, from a distribution utility to a retail electricity supplier — you can do it again. But with SolX, you get more: access to multiple verified suppliers, the ability to compare technical offers, and support in finding the best-fit provider for your load, with competitive pricing and negotiated terms.
While setup may involve some costs, the long-term savings often outweigh the initial investment. And with SolX guiding the process, you're never left to figure things out on your own.
There's also accountability. If a distribution utility delays or fails to act, you can raise the issue with the ERC. SolX monitors all submissions, timelines, and follow-ups to keep everything moving efficiently and fairly.
This isn't just for property owners. Tenants can now join RAP too, as long as they secure written consent from the meter owner, typically valid for the length of their lease. This change has opened the door to more businesses, including those in condominiums and commercial buildings.
Ultimately, RAP isn't just about cheaper electricity. It's about giving businesses the power to choose, plan, and save. It's about leveling the playing field.
So if you've ever looked at your electricity bill and wondered why you're paying more while having fewer options, maybe it's time to take a new approach. Look around — the businesses near you could be your future power partners.
