A year after partnering with SolX Technologies, Genstar Group, a leading manufacturer in the Philippine packaging sector, is already achieving measurable improvements in energy efficiency and operational performance.
The three-year partnership, which began in February 2024, underscores Genstar’s commitment to sustainable manufacturing. In just six months, the company has leveraged SolX’s PowerMatch platform to secure competitive retail supply contracts and switch electricity providers, conducted Energy Audits in its major facilities to comply with DOE’s RA 11285, and installed X-Link, a patented device that provides real-time visibility into energy consumption.
Smarter Energy Procurement
“As a manufacturing company of plastic containers, we switched to MECO as our Retail Electricity Supplier with the help of SolX Technologies, and we saved a significant amount based on our data after switching,” shared Engr. Enrico Chua, Engineering Maintenance Manager at Genstar Manufacturing Corporation.
This was made possible through SolX’s PowerMatch platform, which matches client energy demand with offers from top Retail Electricity Suppliers, enabling businesses to secure the best Retail Supply Contracts (RSCs).
Beyond Compliance
Earlier this year, the ESCO Team of SolX Technologies conducted three energy audits across Genstar’s main facilities:
As part of the engagement, SolX also prepared and submitted the required AEUR and AEECR reports ahead of schedule. These reports not only ensure compliance but also equip Genstar with actionable insights to cut electricity use and identify machines, equipment, and systems that require upgrades or repairs, thereby contributing to significant energy savings and operational efficiency.
“Upon getting the energy audit from SolX, we got some pointers from them on how to lower our power consumption—like checking our panel boards for tightening,” said Engr. Enrico Chua, Engineering Maintenance Manager at Genstar Manufacturing Corporation.
“For the compressors, we found there were air leaks, which apparently also affect power consumption. To minimize the losses, we have to ensure that our pipelines don’t have any leaks. From the insights from SolX, we now check our pipes and fittings daily. For electricity, we also need to replace the remaining lights with LED.”
Smarter Energy Management System
Beyond audits and procurement, Genstar has also adopted Smart Energy Monitoring (SEM) to manage consumption and plan ahead proactively.
“We also availed another service from SolX, which is SEM. This helps us monitor our energy consumption and identify machines or equipment that may need updating or upgrading if their power consumption is already high,” Chua explained. “Also, part of the data we get from SEM will be used for the costing of our new products.”
With SolX’s support, Genstar is making strides in cost efficiency and sustainability.
“Partnering with SolX Technologies enables us to optimize our energy consumption and streamline operations across our manufacturing facilities,” said Arthur Dy, President of Genstar Group. “SolX’s proven track record in energy efficiency and sustainability will support our ongoing efforts to reduce operational costs and minimize environmental impact.”
The Genstar–SolX partnership shows how Philippine manufacturers can go beyond compliance, embedding sustainability into daily operations for both immediate savings and long-term gains.
