Ateneo de Manila University has further strengthened its collaboration with SolX Technologies Inc., advancing the institution’s transition toward greener, low-carbon, and sustainably managed energy operations. On 26 October 2025, three additional Ateneo facilities were successfully switched to Jin Navitas Electric Corporation (JNEC), an affiliate of the Rebisco Group, as their new Retail Electricity Supplier (RES), with SolX providing procurement and advisory support. JNEC, a new entrant in the retail electricity market, is working closely with SolX to accelerate its growth and deliver competitive, transparent, and technology-enabled energy solutions.
With this development, a total of seven (7) Ateneo de Manila facilities now operate under SolX’s Energy Portfolio Management (EPM) framework, providing the university with enhanced visibility, centralized oversight, and a unified long-term energy strategy. The Ateneo Professional Schools in Pasig, Salcedo Campus, and the Blue Eagle Gym have been formally integrated into Ateneo’s consolidated energy portfolio under the Retail Aggregation Program (RAP). After a rigorous competitive evaluation of supplier offers, all three facilities selected JNEC as their Retail Electricity Supplier.
This latest phase builds upon the positive outcomes achieved through SolX’s earlier engagement with Ateneo’s Katipunan, Barangka, and Balara facilities. In that initial stage, Ateneo selected Shell Energy as its RES, underscoring SolX’s commitment to fair, transparent, and analytics-based procurement through its digital platform. Since then, an additional Ateneo facility has also been integrated into the EPM framework, further expanding the university’s aggregated energy portfolio.
Leveraging SolX’s EPM service, supported by market intelligence, expert advisory, and its patented Digital Demand Supply Matching platform, Ateneo secured more competitive rates, improved its protection against market volatility, and gained clearer operational insight across its energy assets. SolX led a careful sourcing and negotiation process to minimize the cost difference associated with renewable energy and keep Ateneo’s supply as competitive as possible.
Across all seven (7) facilities, the university has achieved an average of 20 percent in energy cost savings, demonstrating that renewable energy can be procured competitively when supported by informed, data-driven decision making.
Rodolfo Ang, Vice President for Administration of Ateneo de Manila University, shared that the university had been tasked to transition all its facilities to renewable energy by 2030, even if this would entail higher costs. Through its partnership with SolX, Ateneo is able to address this mandate in a more strategic and data-driven way. The collaboration now enables the university to deliver 100 percent renewable energy across its major campuses as well as smaller campus, while keeping its supply competitively and transparently sourced.

Ateneo is now SolX’s first fully aggregated academic institution under the Retail Aggregation Program. By integrating multiple facilities under one consolidated procurement strategy, SolX has delivered an approach that maximizes value while accommodating Ateneo’s diverse operational requirements. This collaboration carries additional significance, as SolX’s founders, Matt Tan and Sergius Santos, are Ateneo alumni, reinforcing a shared commitment to innovation, sustainability, and nation-building.
“This is the kind of innovation we envisioned when we built SolX,” said Matt Tan, Chief Operating Officer of SolX Technologies. “Ateneo is showing that educational institutions can adopt the same intelligent, data-driven frameworks that leading industries rely on.”
“Working with Ateneo will always feel like coming home,” added Sergius Santos, Chief Executive Officer of SolX. “Our goal is straightforward: to give institutions the clarity and confidence they need to make sound, long-term energy decisions.”
Ateneo continues to advance its sustainability agenda, with all seven (7) facilities now supplied with 100 percent renewable energy through its partnership with SolX. With its entire energy portfolio unified under the EPM framework, the university is well-positioned to improve cost efficiency, enhance procurement resilience, and modernize energy operations across multiple campuses.
As a result of the expanded agreement, Ateneo has achieved its renewable energy target five years ahead of schedule. University President Fr. Roberto C. Yap, SJ, has emphasized that this transition is not merely a strategic choice but a reflection of Ateneo’s mission and values, inspired in part by Laudato Si’ and its call to care for our common home, and a commitment to its communities and to the care of the environment. With its campuses now powered by 100 percent renewable energy, Ateneo further solidifies its position as one of the greenest universities in the country with a distinctly blue heart.
This expanded partnership illustrates the impact of combining analytics, technology, and mission-aligned collaboration, setting a new benchmark for energy management in the education sector.
Institutions seeking to enhance their energy strategy may access the same expertise, digital tools, and transparent procurement framework that supported Ateneo’s transition. To learn more or explore how SolX can help your organization, email [email protected] or visit www.solx.ph/contact.
